Students will respond to the critical thinking questions on pages 560-61. These questions will ask students to analyze ways in which the Civil War transformed the nation.

1.)    Students will watch a documentary on the Abraham Lincoln assassination.

2.)    Students will discuss answers to the documentary questions.

- Students will pretend that they are President Lincoln’s press secretary. They will make a pamphlet that commemorates Lincoln’s life and accomplishments and encourages the Union to stay strong in spite of the president’s assassination.

2.)    Students will be able to identify all of the major events of the Civil War in chronological order.

1.)    Students will review their chapter 16-17 study sheets as a class. Students will receive a formula sheet for that they will be able to use on their next test

2.)    Students read the Gettysburg Address and will respond to an informative essay prompt. They will then complete a time line of major events for the Civil War.
